Vermont was a great short winter getaway. I traveled to various cities and towns of Vermont including Waterbury, Burlington, Stowe and Montpelier. Each place was easy to get to by driving and the views of the mountains were incredible. My favorite was seeing cows and horses grazing outside even in the cold weather.
During my getaway I stayed in Burlington, Vermont, where I got to go to some yummy and hip restaurants downtown. Here are a few recommendations for Burlington:
The Farmhouse Tap & Grill is a great restaurant and bar. My boyfriend and I both ordered beer from their huge list offering many on tap and burgers. The burgers were absolutely to die for.
Leunig’s was my absolute favorite restaurant. I went for dinner after a long and cold day of exploring. The vibe was relaxed while a live guitarist played a wide range of songs. I got a French Bordeaux glass of wine with the Duck Confit Gnocchi. We also had the government cheese plate which of course include Vermont Cabot Cheese. It was the perfect dinner.
Outside of Burlington I got to experience some really cool places as well. Here are some suggestions for places you HAVE to try while in Vermont:
Ben & Jerry’s Waterbury Factory was the perfect first stop we made on our trip. Ben & Jerry’s is one of my favorite ice creams and how cool is it that we got to try ice cream that was actually made at the factory? You’ll get to see how the ice cream is made and learn about the history of the company as well as their involvement in current communities.
Bragg Farm is the perfect place to pick up Vermont grade local maple syrup! While your there you must try the maple creemees (aka maple syrup flavored soft serve ice cream) as well!
